„Apple Plans iPad-Like Design for Next iPhone“
This year’s successors to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will be joined by two lower-end models to replace the iPhone 11. At least the two high-end devices will have flat stainless steel edges instead of the current curved design as well as more sharply rounded corners like the iPad Pro introduced in 2018. Reminiscent of the iPhone 5 design, the new handsets will have flat screens rather than the sloping edges on current models, said the people asking not to be identified because the plans aren’t public.
Das 5er-Design aus dem Jahr 2012 war (m-)ein „All-Time Favorite“. Das hatte unterschiedliche Gründe, aber einen dieser Gründe beschrieb Apple damals so:
During manufacturing, each iPhone 5 aluminum housing is photographed by two high-powered 29MP cameras. A machine then examines the images and compares them against 725 unique inlays to find the most precise match for every single iPhone.
Diese „diamantgeschliffenen abgeschrägten Kanten“ mit einem dort „eingelassenen Glas“ hatten wir seitdem nur noch im iPhone 5s und iPhone SE.
Mit dem aktuellen iPad Pro in der Hand (und viel Vorstellungskraft), kann man sich vielleicht ein Bild über den zukünftigen „Look“ der kommenden iPhones machen. Ich bin jedoch sehr gespannt was ein solches kantiges Design acht Jahr nach dem iPhone 5 für die Grifffestigkeit bedeutet – einmal ganz abgesehen von der Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Stürze.
