Ich besitze die überschaubare Anzahl von zwei Dutzend Textschnipseln – Server-Befehle, vorformulierten E-Mail-Absätze und Informations-Klumpen wie meine Bankverbindung –, die ich täglich über einen Kurzbefehl ausrolle. Größtenteils allerdings nur unter Mac OS, da die Anzahl der iOS-Apps, die diese Snippets auf den mobilen Geräten explizit unterstützen, limitiert ist.

Mit iOS 8 und der geplanten TextExpander-Tastatur steht zukünftig meine komplette Kürzel-Datenbank systemweit bereit. Die Software-Architektur des neuen iPhone- und iPad-Betriebssystems schützt aber trotzdem alle meine Tastenanschläge gegenüber dem Anbieter der Alternativtastatur, indem diese beispielsweise nicht in Passwortfeldern tippt und in ihrer Standardeinstellung keinen Netzwerk-Zugriff hat.
