Mit Zugriff über Claude habe ich heute ausrechnen lassen, dass in meiner Queue noch Artikel liegen, die rund 25 Stunden zum Anhören benötigen.
Die „Kommandozeile auf Abruf“ um Matter im macOS-Terminal vom iPad aus aufzurufen, bieten etwa Secure Shellfish, Moshi oder Prompt – wenn nicht ohnehin eine Screens-VNC-Verbindung steht.

„iPad at 16“
What iPad has done is carved a niche that is resilient. After 16 years, I reckon about 910 million have been sold with about 70 million more sold each year. The product has a particularly long lifespan in use and may continue to be used for as long as 10 years. Total lifetime revenue has been over $403 billion with about $29 billion last year. The total user base is between 400 and 450 million users. In the U.S., the iPad is highly prevalent, with over 40% of Americans owning an iPad in 2024.
Neither killer nor killed, the iPad is just a great “in between” product with plenty of value. I have no doubt that it will still be popular 16 years from now.
Schaut man ausschließlich auf die Finanzen, zählen nur das iPhone (60 Prozent) und Services (20 Prozent). Der Mac, das iPad und „Wearable/Home/Accessoires“ teilen sich gleichmäßig verteilt die verbleibenden 20 Prozent von Apples Umsatz nach Produktkategorie – es ist ein „three-legged stool“.

„Locally AI joins LM Studio“
Mit dem Release von Gemma 4 wollte ich erst kürzlich noch einmal über Locally AI schreiben. Diese One-Man-Show für On-Device-AI stellte wieder umgehend, nur wenige Stunden nach der Veröffentlichung, Googles neuestes Open-Source-LLM als Download in seiner übersichtlichen Software bereit.
In dieser Woche bekam ich einen noch triftigeren Grund für eine abermalige Erwähnung:

Mit der Erstellung von ALT-Text und einer automatischen Dateibenennung habe ich für mich zwei einzelne Anwendungsfälle für lokale AI gefunden; alles andere läuft besser, schneller und günstiger mit einem Gemini-, ChatGPT- oder Claude-Abo – wenn auch ohne Datenschutz und Vertraulichkeit.
Auf absehbare Zeit scheint es eine gute Wette, dass allen unseren greifbaren Computern die Rolle als „Thin Client“ zugeschrieben bleibt.
Es wäre jedoch nicht das erste Mal, dass AI vermeintlich absehbare Zeitpläne torpediert, etwa mit leistungsfähigen Small Language Models, und Features bietet, die am besten tief eingeflochten in andere Software und auf Betriebssystemebene funktionieren.
