Neue Abos für den Video-Streaming-Dienst können dabei nur über die Webseite abgeschlossen werden – eine Neuanmeldung für Netflix – direkt über die Netflix-App – ist in diesem Testlauf unter Umständen gestrichen.

Spotify hatte sich mit Apple deshalb schon mehrfach in den Haaren. Auch Amazon bietet den Kauf von neuen Kindle-Büchern nur über den Webbrowser an um Apples 30-Prozent-Provision selbst einzubehalten. Apples finanzielle Beteiligung an allen App-Store-Abos sinkt nach 12 Monaten auf 15-Prozent.

TechCrunch has learned and confirmed that Netflix, in its own words, is “testing the iTunes payment method” in 33 countries. More specifically, Netflix is testing how to bypass iTunes. Until September 30, new or lapsed subscribers in selected markets across Europe, Latin America and Asia will be unable pay using iTunes.

Earlier this month, Apple officials informed Facebook that the app violated new rules outlined in June designed to limit data collection by app developers, the person familiar with the situation said. Apple informed Facebook that Onavo also violated a part of its developer agreement that prevents apps from using data in ways that go beyond what is directly relevant to the app or to provide advertising, the person added.
